You’ve created your free offer (”lead magnet”) as a strategy to build your all-important email list. You have the lead capture set and the process for them to get the free offer. In building your list you are welcoming them into your circle of interested prospects and current clients. Your first email or thank you page is a valuable piece of real estate. It is the perfect time to begin offering them paid opportunities.
Now you may be thinking that this is crazy. Who wants to be sold to on a thank you page? You do. Think about it – you gave up your email address because you are interested on what the business has to offer, right? If you can get more information for just a few dollars you will probably say yes, especially if the offer is enticing. Not sold on the idea yet?
Here are a few statistics to consider:
- 320% more revenue is attributed to welcome emails on a per email basis than other promotional emails. So, the very first email is the most profitable. However, most of us give out the free gift or whatever we promised and then leave it at that.
- The words “thank you” included in the email subject lines have the highest above-average engagement levels. That’s another reason why the welcome email is so powerful. It is something subscribers asked for and they are expecting it. They are waiting for you to deliver it so they are paying attention.
- Purchase confirmation emails have 8x more opens and clicks than any other type of email and can generate 6x more revenue. When someone purchases something from you, you can use the thank you email to get them to buy something else.
Always take advantage of those emails. Make sure there is a promotion in there of some kind. Something highly targeted and related to what they just bought; something that will enhance their experience.
Take Action:
If you already have products available, go add thank you emails. If you already have these emails set up, go back and change them to include a new offer.
